ORGANIZATIONS



KOC - Knights of Columbus - is the world’s largest lay Catholic

family service organization. As an international organization, it annually

donates millions of dollars and hours to the Church and the community

Members support many charitable activities and programs.


The local council supports World Youth Day, St. Martha’s Regional

Hospital and R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home. As well, it defends

Right to Life and Pro-Life education and materials

St. Vincent de Paul Society - This organization aims to assist those

in need. The group meets monthly, at which time the members

review and plan upcoming activities. These activities include

assisting with basic food purchases, medical/child care products,

and purchases of oil. They also assist with transportation for out

of area medical appointments, help with an in-school tutoring program

supply basic needs, and aid transients.


In addition to the volunteers who visit those requesting assistance, other

volunteers pick up furniture and household items from donors and make

deliveries to those who require specific items.


The Christmas Cheer Program conducted during the 2008 Christmas

season served 159 needy households.

Development and Peace - This group was organized by the Canadian

Catholic Bishops to promote partnerships between the Third World and

Canada. Projects include Fall Action and Share Lent fundraising.
